  • Distraction is the best analgesia. The treatment room is organised in such a way to allow your choice of streaming services.

  • You are also welcome to listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks or have a friendly chat with your electrologist.

  • A lot of pain and discomfort is anticipatory. If you spend time focussing on the discomfort it will likely make it worse.

  • Never be afraid to take a break. Or talk to your electrologist about changing method or reducing treatment levels. Remember, you are in control. Everyone has different tolerance levels for discomfort and electrolysis needs to be an open dialogue to avoid complication

  • There is a balance of finding the 'working point'. Under treating an area will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment,  but overtreatment will increase the likelihood of tissue damage and scarring.

  • We understand some patients want to be as zealous as possible in their treatment and that is ok. We are happy to accommodate to a point and are transparent about intensity used. Just keep in mind It is better to ere on the side of undertreatment initially.

  • Overtreatment is much more likely to occur if you put on a brave face and don't share how much pain you are in. It is ideal to work together with the electrologist to balance comfort and effectiveness.  Try to visualise it as Effectiveness vs Comfort vs Complication Risk and always let your electrologist know how you feel. Electrolysis will always eventually be permanent, and retreating an area is common.
